with the technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. Lee,
VA.
b. Availability: This program will be available to military and federal GETN/MIST sites that have GETN/ATN/Warrior digital satellite downlinks. A listing of potential GETN receive sites can be seen here: GETN Site Location.
MIST affiliate satellite networks such as the VA’s Employee Education System and the Department of Justice Television Network may also carry this program but IAW with their own scheduling.
There is NO C/Ku Band Analog satellite availability for this program.
Videoconferencing may be available to selected military and federal VTC sites using the USA TNET or the USN CNET networks and other VTC networks able to connect to this satellite feed. Site coordinators using VTC are responsible for their own bridge coordination.

Target Audience Statement: The target audiences for this program will be military and federal personnel, physicians, nurses, hospitals, public health practitioners, public health nurses, policy makers, educators, students, senior resident care providers, mental health specialists, geriatric care providers and any others interested in furthering their knowledge of Geriatric Health.
d. Program Summary: Over 330,000 New York residents have Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders. With the elderly population increasing significantly the issues associated with Alzheimer’s disease may be overwhelming. Currently in NYS, 70 percent of the persons with Alzheimer’s disease reside in the community and 75 percent of their care is provided by family caregivers. In this session, Earl Zimmerman, MD will provide an overview of Alzheimer’s disease, describing the role and importance of primary care in early detection and treatment, and discuss emerging research. Mary Mittelman, DrPH will discuss the results of several of her studies, illustrating the positive effects of delaying admission to nursing homes by providing care to patients with Alzheimer’s disease in the community and support to caregivers.

The School of Public Health, University at Albany, SUNY, is accredited by the
Medical Society of the State of New York to sponsor continuing medical education
for physicians. The School designates this educational activity for 1.0
Category One credit towards the AMA Physician’s
Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit
