a.  Sponsors:  This program is sponsored for Military and Federal GETN subscribers by the School of Public Health, University at Albany, SUNY, Center for Public Health Preparedness and Department of Defense Medical Interagency Satellite Program with the  technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. Lee, VA. 
 

b.  Availability:  This free, public domain, pre-recorded broadcast will be available on  the GETN Military/GETN/Warrior digital CDV satellite networks.  There is No C/KU satellite availability for this program. (Note: This program WILL NOT be available on small digital dish networks such as DirecTV or Echostar systems.)  Limited VTC availability may be available for military and federal sites only depending on bridge capacities.

c.  Target Audience Statement:  Military and Federal health professionals and national audience of state and local public health professionals and their partners (e.g., healthcare professionals, EMS personnel, law enforcement, media representatives, etc).

d.  Program  Summary:  Dr. Eadon discusses chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals whose intentional or accidental release might have substantial public health consequences.  He also considers the utility of several approaches to estimating the exposure of individuals and populations after such an incident.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of the presentation, the participants will be able to:

  1. Describe differences between overt and covert chemical exposure.
  2. Describe usefulness of both clinical (human) and environmental sample testing.
  3. Describe three industrial chemicals that pose accidental or intentional hazards to health.
