Live Response is an award winning
educational/informational program produced by the National Terrorism
Preparedness Institute (NTPI) of St. Petersburg College - a 60-minute
satellite television broadcast and web cast featuring news styled program
segments and dynamic panel discussions with leading experts who share
their knowledge and experiences about terrorism awareness, prevention,
preparedness, response and recovery. Hosted by local television
anchor, Al Ruechel, each program offers insightful news, unique
perspectives and fascinating discussion. Join us for our next
program. It’s your program for valuable information!
This special edition
Live Response takes a look back at two of the most watched
programs of 2009. You'll see edited highlights of the November
presentation titled "Pandemic Flu Outbreak-Preparedness and
Response" and December's presentation of the "Minnesota
Bridge Collapse: A City Responds" which was recently awarded the
prestigious Silver Communicator Award. At the time of its original
airing, the November program took a hard look at what had already become a
global epidemic. Estimates in 2009 stated that 90-million U.S. citizens
would soon be effected by the disease. Our moderator, Al Ruechel, will
give important updates on where we stand with this disease today. Is it
still something to fear -- or is H1N1 truly a historical footnote of
2010? In our December, 2009 broadcast, we listened to firemen, police,
emergency managers and city officials who lived through one of the most
amazing rescue efforts of our nation's history, as an eight-lane steel
truss bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River in August of 2007 during
the rush hour in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We also looked at how Unified
Command was able to coordinate more than 170 responding agencies during
the hours following this tragedy. In our September 2010 broadcast, we'll
update the Training Needs Assistance Project (T-NAP) presented by TEEX.
This unique programs helps responders prepare for catastrophic situations
in a given community. Join us for this Special Edition Live Response!
