It sometimes seems like marijuana is everywhere.  It's in the movies, on TV, in music, and more.  Usually, it's portrayed as a harmless way for people to relax and escape reality.  We all know that is NOT the case.  How do you counter the marijuana culture?  During this hour-long CADCA-TV broadcast, we'll take a look at how one city is turning a day notorious for marijuana smoking into an anti-drug day.  See how coalitions are addressing the marijuana normalization initiatives.  Find out how some in the entertainment industry are trying to show the reality of marijuana instead of the glamorization.

Getting high doesn't mean a trip to a drug dealer in a back alley anymore.  Many drug abusers are growing or making drugs in their homes.  From pot houses to "shake 'n bake" meth makers, the dangers of homegrown and homemade drugs are in neighborhoods everywhere.  During this hour-long broadcast  we'll see what law enforcement is doing to try to stop these homegrown and homemade drugs.  We'll learn how to spot what might be a marijuana grow house and find out what other plants and natural substances are also threats.

"Homelessness & Substance Use Disorder Treatment: Recovery-Oriented Housing & Achieving Healthy Lifestyles" C Band Analog;

The relationship between homelessness, mental health, and substance use disorders is complex and multi-dimensional.  To effectively break this cyclical relationship, we must understand treatment for substance use disorders is effective and recovery is possible, but it takes work.
Key Concepts:
-What are the characteristics of persons who experience homelessness?
-Why are veterans at particular risk for homelessness and substance use disorders?
-Among youth, how are homelessness and substance abuse related?
-What is meant by an "integrated services system" for persons who are homeless and have a substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders?
-What role do supported housing programs play in addressing homelessness and facilitating treatment and recovery?
-What resources are available for someone who has a substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders, or for someone who is homeless?
-If someone has a family member or other loved one with these issues, what resources are available?

Anti-drug efforts involve two distinct components, prevention and treatment.  Both are equally important.  All too often, some people on the prevention side don't understand what treatment involves and some on the treatment side don't know the work that goes into prevention.  During this hour-long CADCA-TV broadcast, we'll talk about treatment step-by-step and why it is so difficult.  We'll hear how prevention coalitions and the treatment community work together to achieve the goal of reducing substance abuse.
