a. Sponsors: This program is sponsored for Military and Federal GETN subscribers by the Centers For Disease Control, and by the Army National Guard (NGB-ART-RDL; MAJ Newcomb) with the technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. Lee, VA.
b. Availability: This free, public domain, videotaped broadcast will be available on the GETN Military/GETN/Warrior digital CDV satellite networks. (No C/KU coverage is available on this date.) Other private and public satellite networks may also carry the program, check with your satellite provider. Target Audience Statement: The target audience will be physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and public health who either give immunizations or set policy for their offices, clinics, communicable disease, or infection control programs. Both private and public health care providers, including pediatricians, family practice specialists, residents, and medical and nursing students, and federal and military health providers to include NG State Surgeons should have an interest in this program.
d. Program Summary and Objectives: This program will provide the most current information available on influenza surveillance, vaccine supply, CDC “interim” recommendations regarding priority groups for vaccinations, use of live attenuated influenza vaccine and vaccination of children. The program will also provide guidance on antiviral use, infection control measures, laboratory issues such as diagnostic tests, case reporting and communication contact information.
Objectives: At the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Describe current influenza activity in the US
- Describe the status of the influenza vaccine supply
- List recommendation for priority groups for vaccination
- Describe the use of influenza diagnostic tests
- State the recommended use of antiviral medication
- Identify appropriate infection control measures

encouraged but not required to register and evaluate the broadcast/webcast.
Registration and evaluation will provide valuable feedback to CDC.
Continuing education credit will be offered for a variety of professions, based
on 1 hour of instruction. A certificate of credit or a certificate of
attendance will be awarded to participants who complete the evaluation.
