a. Sponsors: This program is co-sponsored for
Military and Federal GETN subscribers by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention and the Department of Defense Medical Interagency Satellite Program
with the technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. Lee,
VA.
b. Availability: This program will be available to military and federal GETN/MIST sites that have GETN/ATN/Warrior digital satellite downlinks. A listing of potential GETN receive sites can be seen here: GETN Site Location.
MIST affiliate satellite networks such as the VA’s Employee Education System and the Department of Justice Television Network may also carry this program but IAW with their own scheduling.
There will be C/Ku Band analog satellite for this live
program, coordinates will be published in final confirmation sent out 2-3 days
prior to broadcast.
Videoconferencing may be available to selected military and federal VTC sites using the USA TNET or the USN CNET networks and other VTC networks able to connect to this satellite feed. Site coordinators using VTC are responsible for their own bridge coordination.

c. Target Audience Statement: This broadcast is designed for military, federal, state and local preparedness partners, emergency responses specialists, public information officers, hospital and community-based health organization planners, and any other public health professionals interested in pandemic influenza planning and exercising.
d. Program Summary: During National Public Health Week 2007, the American Public Health Association, its members, and its partners will host events throughout the country encouraging citizens, especially vulnerable populations, to “Take the First Step” towards preparing for public health threats. In conjunction with APHA NPHW, COTPER is hosting a satellite broadcast to promote pandemic influenza preparedness and response capacity.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Increase state and local preparedness partners' awareness and knowledge of innovative methods to implement and exercise pandemic influenza preparedness activities.
- Provide guidance in developing implementing, communicating, and evaluating pandemic influenza preparedness activities.
