at Albany and Department of Defense Medical Interagency Satellite Program with
the technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. Lee, VA.
b. Availability: This program will be available to military and federal GETN/MIST sites that have GETN/ATN/Warrior digital satellite downlinks. A listing of potential GETN receive sites can be seen here: GETN Site Location.
MIST affiliate satellite networks such as the VA’s Employee Education System and the Department of Justice Television Network may also carry this program but IAW with their own scheduling.
There is C/KU satellite availability for this program. Look for final confirmation for confirmed coordinates, sent 2-3 days prior to broadcast.
Videoconferencing may be available to selected military and federal VTC sites using the USA TNET or the USN CNET networks and other VTC networks able to connect to this satellite feed. Site coordinators using VTC are responsible for their own bridge coordination.

Target Audience Statement: Military, federal and independent physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, and other interested providers.d. Program Summary: This program is part of an ongoing satellite videoconference series entitled "The Management of HIV/AIDS in the Correctional & Community Setting," which addresses clinical issues in the management of HIV-infected patients. This series is a unique, collaborative venture among Albany Medical College, the New York State Department of Correctional Services and the private pharmaceutical industry. Each program addresses a different clinical aspect of HIV infection using the same format: didactic lectures, case presentations and a panel discussion.
e. Learning Objectives: By the end of the broadcast, the participant should be able to:1. List the indications for initiation of treatment of HIV infection
2. Review the HIV therapeutic classes, and state how they are used in combination
3. Discuss the current guidelines/recommendations for initial antiretroviral therapy
4. Describe the indications for changing therapy.
5. State how resistance testing can be utilized in designing new regimens.
6. List two new classes of antiretroviral therapy for use in treatment-experienced patients.
