a.  Sponsors:  This program is co-sponsored for Military and Federal GETN subscribers by The South Central Center for Public Health Preparedness in partnership with the Alabama Department of Public Health and Department of Defense Medical Interagency Satellite Program with the  technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. Lee, VA. 

b.  Availability:
  This program will be available to military and federal GETN/MIST sites that have GETN/ATN/Warrior digital satellite downlinks. 

MIST affiliate satellite networks such as the VA’s Employee Education System and the Department of Justice Television Network may also carry this program but IAW with their own scheduling. 

There is No C/Ku Band analog satellite for this program.  

Videoconferencing may be available to selected military and federal VTC sites using the USA TNET or the USN CNET networks and other VTC networks able to connect to this satellite feed.  Site coordinators using VTC are responsible for their own bridge coordination.

Will this program be Webcast?  Yes, archived broadcast, instructions in final confirmation sent out 24 – 48 hours prior.

c.  Target Audience Statement:  The target audience for this program is first responders; public and federal health professionals and the partners with whom they will need to communicate in a public health emergency; community planners; command and control personnel; public and federal health and medical students.

d.  Program  Description:  The purpose of this broadcast is to enhance the ability of emergency management and public health practitioners to effectively define, locate and reach vulnerable populations to protect them in the event of emergencies. We have planned this broadcast to reduce the likelihood of unnecessary illness, injuries and deaths in the future, especially for special, at-risk, vulnerable populations. The topic areas will include special populations, emergency management infrastructure, health disparities, available resources and emergency preparedness. 

e.  Program Objectives:

1. Define, locate, and reach at-risk populations in their communities.
2. Identify available resources and agencies that support preparedness planning for vulnerable populations.
3. Utilize the information presented to integrate best practices for preparedness training.
4. Cite the different roles and responsibilities during an emergency that address care for vulnerable populations.

Faculty:  Hilary Styron; Director Emergency Preparedness Initiative National Organization on Disability Washington, DC 

g. Interactivity/Questions:  You are invited to join an in-depth question and answer session. Dr. Klapow will interview leading public health professionals from around the country, and your questions will be answered live as they are received throughout the broadcast.
